DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Program

A DOT drug or alcohol violation requires a clear, structured return-to-duty process. Our certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) provides expert guidance to navigate every step—from the initial evaluation and education plan to final reporting and FMCSA Clearinghouse management.

Expert Guidance for the Return-to-Duty Process.

Initial SAP Evaluation

The first step after a violation is a comprehensive, face-to-face evaluation with our qualified SAP. We will work with you to understand the circumstances of the violation and assess your specific needs. This initial meeting is a requirement for all DOT-regulated employees and establishes the foundation for your successful return-to-duty plan.

Education and Treatment Coordination

Based on the initial evaluation, our SAP will recommend a tailored program of education and/or treatment. We focus on providing a clear action plan that not only satisfies DOT regulations but also equips you with valuable skills for long-term success. We will refer you to appropriate agencies and ensure your program is properly documented.

FMCSA Clearinghouse Management

Navigating the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a critical part of the process for CDL holders. A violation results in a "prohibited" status, which legally prevents you from driving. While the SAP provides the necessary documentation, it is the employer's responsibility to handle all reporting to the Clearinghouse, including filling out Boxes 5 & 6. Our role is to ensure you have the proper documentation to provide to your employer for them to update your status.

Follow-Up Evaluation and Reporting

Once you have completed your prescribed education or treatment, you will meet with the SAP for a follow-up evaluation. This meeting confirms your compliance and readiness to resume safety-sensitive duties. Upon successful completion, we will provide a final report to your employer, officially recommending you for a return-to-duty test.

Please Note: This program is designed to guide you through the DOT return-to-duty process. It does not assist with job placement, and your information will not be sent to recruiters.
